Gracias
We appreciate you.
It would have been easy to stay inside the app. Instead, you came to us, and we’re grateful you’re thinking about ordering from us directly. Thank you for backing a local, family-run kitchen.
Juan and Maria Escobar started Tacos Costa Sonoma in 2016. Their family’s Michoacán cooking tradition reaches back more than 40 years, and it’s in every tortilla, filling and salsa we serve.
¡Qué rico!
Where the money goes
Up to 48% in fees. Or one small fee.
Uber launched Uber Eats in 2014 and turned its ride-hailing network into one of the largest food delivery platforms in the world. The ride is quick; the fees that come along for it are another story.
Delivery marketplaces can charge restaurants up to 30% commission on every order, plus about 3% for credit card processing, then add a fee of up to 15% to the person ordering. All in, that can reach 48%. When you order direct from us, you pay one small fee, and that’s it. The restaurant pays no commission, which is how we keep the same menu prices you’d pay calling or visiting the truck.
Marketplace order
Fees on a $50.00 food order, at up-to rates
| Restaurant commission up to 30%, paid by the restaurant | $15.00 |
|---|---|
| Card processing about 3%, paid by the restaurant | $1.50 |
| Customer service fee up to 15%, paid by you | $7.50 |
| Total fees, up to 48% | $24.00 |
Ordering direct from us
The same $50.00 food order
| Restaurant commission we pay no marketplace commission | $0.00 |
|---|---|
| Menu prices same as calling or visiting the truck | Same |
| Your fee shown at checkout | One small fee |
| Anything else? | Nope |
Example for illustration, based on a $50.00 food order. Percentages are the maximums the restaurant cites for delivery marketplaces overall: up to 30% commission and about 3% card processing charged to the restaurant, plus up to 15% in fees charged to the customer. Actual fees vary by marketplace, plan, location and order, and may not match Uber Eats’s current rates.
Order direct, support local
Your order, your community.
When you order direct, you’re not just buying dinner, you’re investing in the neighborhood. That money supports local workers and suppliers and helps keep a family business cooking on Sonoma Highway for years to come.
The commissions charged by delivery marketplaces can be brutal for small restaurants. Because we don’t pay any marketplace commission on direct orders, we can offer you the same menu prices as if you called us or visited the truck.
- Same menu prices as calling or visiting the truck
- One small fee for you, nothing else
- Zero commission for the restaurant, so your money stays local
